The Greensboro Arm Wrestling League (GRAWL) raised more than $1,900 for the Interactive Resource Center at its first brawl on April 23, 2016.
Proceeds from ticket sales and GRAWL bucks sales will go toward helping the IRC expand its women’s locker room. The IRC serves local homeless residents by providing them a safe place to stay during the day, to clean their clothes and get mail, among other services.
Wrestler Betty Clock-her, a lady robot, dominated the night, beating all her athletic competitors and slaughtering the fundraising competition by bringing in $436 in GRAWL bucks. Another crowd favorite, badass librarian Dewey Decimator, pulled in $325.
Rainbow Fight and her entourage of kick-ass Color Kids earned cosplay bragging rights, taking home the award for Best Costume from celebrity judges Tina Firesheets, Eddie Newsome and Jennie Stencil.
IRC wrestler No-Shame Shana brought down the house with her killer shower stall costume and her truly shameless stalemate dance off. Wrestlers Mega Madame, Hellary Rotten Clinton, Lucille Brawl and Pussies Galore rounded out an awesome roster.
GRAWL would like to thank emcee Matt “Cravey Train” Cravey, DJ87, VanderVeen photographers, Geeksboro, Durham referee Sassy McClassy and all the wrestlers and volunteers for making our first brawl a success.
Please join us for our next brawl July 16.
